The Apple IIGS was the second to last, and the greatest, of the Apple II line. With a hefty 2.8MHz processor and from 256k to a whopping 1 meg of RAM, it could both run very nearly all Apple II programs as well as programs designed for use with its enhanced graphics and sound (hence GS) It was the first machine to use the Apple Desktop Bus (ADB), later used on Macintosh computers from the Macintosh II and SE, finally ending with the iMacs in 1998, twelve years after ADB was first used.
