combining Centris/Quadra articles

I'm not sure we want to do this. Though it is clear they are related, and sometimes even the same machine with a name change, they sometimes aren't. Also, it makes the spec box very clumsy to write if there is a speed bump or some other configuration change. ⇔ ChristTrekker 21:26, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Although it makes the spec box a bit clumsy, I don't think this is a big price to pay to avoid duplication of the history articles. Same thing goes for the various Performa models — usually all that's different between them is the stock RAM/HD. Is it possible to have optional ranges, etc in the specs box? Something like 25MHz/33MHz would be the best way to do it IMHO and have the full specs of each individual model listed in the page. → ~tl (talk · contribs) 23:28, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Ehhh, you're probably right. Especially in the case of those Performas—they were offered at the same time, and if Apple operated like it does today those would just be BTO options. The Centris/Quadra situations are a bit different though, since they were offered at different times. Sure, it was mostly just a speed bump of the same machine, but accompanied with the rebranding and it starts to look significant. I'm still torn there... One solution is what you suggest, putting 25MHz(C)/33MHz(Q), and the like. Another possibility is to have separate sections on the page for the notes that are specific to the models, and these could include the specs. Maybe TheNeil has an opinion. ⇔ ChristTrekker 15:54, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
That's probably the best idea... the full specifications template I've designed only shows the rows that actually are filled out, so it'd be easy to do with that. I think that the history of the Centris and Quadra lines is so intrinsically linked that it makes more sense to keep the history together. → ~tl (talk · contribs) 16:22, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Ahh, I like that idea (regarding the template)! What if the main article in these (few) cases is like Centris/Quadra 650? I still feel like one, if redirected to the other, ends up the "ugly stepchild". Let's redirect both to one that is clearly a joint article. ⇔ ChristTrekker 18:31, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
